As the 9th president of The Lake Shore (IL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, I welcome you to the chapter’s website.

 

The Lake Shore (IL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated was chartered by thirty-eight (38) women on January 20, 1996.  With a focus on the West Side of Chicago, the members of the Lake Shore (IL) Chapter, since its inception, have continued to serve the communities that comprise this area within the city of Chicago.

 

The Lake Shore (IL) Chapter is one of many chapters within The Links, Incorporated, one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations established in 1946.  The Links, Incorporated, with tenets of friendship and service, is comprised of professional women of color in chapters located throughout the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom.

 

Our award-winning Lake Shore (IL) Chapter has embraced the five programming facets of The Links, Incorporated (The Arts, International Trends and Services, Health and Human Services, National Trends and Services, and Services to Youth) to provide services to our communities.  Through the Links National Signature Arts Program “Classics Through the Ages”, our chapter’s Arts Facet sponsors aspiring dancers to teach complimentary ballet classes to children ages 5 to 12; thereby providing the students with further exposure to The Arts and instilling in them discipline and self-confidence.  Our chapter’s International Trends and Services Facet works with Chicago high school students to expose them to Haitian culture and further utilize their French language skills by communicating with Haitian high school students.  With our chapter’s Integrated Program (comprised of our Health and Human Services, National Trends and Services, and Services to Youth Facets) we provide workshops, donations of goods, health fairs and celebrate the students to ensure they receive additional tools to assist them with maintaining healthy lifestyles.
